As many as 400 packages of varying sizes were found in a ravine 30 miles north of Birmingham, Alabama, authorities said. This is on top of the hundreds of FedEx packages previously discovered weeks before dumped into the ravine.
FedEx said the company began working ‘immediately’ to retrieve and deliver the packages to recipients. It issued a statement:
“We are appalled to learn of this incident and can confirm that efforts are immediately underway to retrieve and deliver the packages to their intended recipients. We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement during their investigation, including any criminal prosecution of, or civil action against, the individuals responsible. Customers with questions or concerns about their shipments are encouraged to visit fedex.com for updates.”
My friends, this is what active employee disengagement looks like. Some disengaged employees simply do what they have to do to get by and go home, giving you no discretionary effort. But the people who are most disengaged will go out of their way to sabotage and tarnish your customer experience and brand, which is what FedEx is now facing.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. If you commit that 2022 is going to be the year you embark on an Employee Engagement journey, and build a culture that employees love and can’t imagine leaving, one year from now you won’t recognize your workplace. Priceless.
Jill, What Can I Do? Consider following in my footsteps. Do anything critical at work that needs to get done in 2021, and then take time out for yourself to rest, relax, recharge, and spend quality time with the people and experiences that bring you joy. I’ll be back the first week of January, and look forward to unveiling new products and services in early-2022 that will help you easily gauge your organization’s employee engagement score and embark on a journey. Wishing you a magical holiday season and year end, Culture Nation Community.
